Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Information Technology (BCIIT) was established in 1999 to run Three-Year Master of Computer Application (MCA) programme. The Institute is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi for awarding the degree and is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India.The Institute is established under the aegis of Sri Banarsidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society, a charitable Society working in the field of health and education since 1952.

The ‘Process Management Approach’ followed by the Institute facilitates in efficient and effective implementation of each process and it’s monitoring. Both the stakeholders – the faculty and the students – share the vision and mission of the Institute and are active partners in its implementation.

The Institute is student centric where the faculty members are always alive to the needs of the students and are focussed to develop them to top class software professionals. The Programme Coordinator and mentors monitor the progress of each student. The students go through continuous evaluation for which tests are conducted every Monday. For the personality development the students undergo communication skills, etiquette, and organisation behaviour classes. To develop their competitive skills the students are subjected to debates, quizzes, software development tests, sports and cultural programmes.

The Institute is located in the midst of the business centres of South Delhi, viz., Nehru Place and Okhla Industrial Town in the serene environment of Chandiwala Estate. The location makes a perfect fit from IT perspective with Nehru Place as hardware hub and Okhla as software hub of Delhi.

Classrooms

The classrooms at BCIIT provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions between the students and faculty. Sophisticated audio-visual aids and advanced presentation tools augment interactive learning. The classrooms are air-conditioned spacious and well ventilated to facilitate the teaching learning process. Library

The primary repository of learning and knowledge at BCIIT is the library with over 3000 books on IT and related areas besides periodicals and journals. To cultivate values and competitiveness amongst the students the library has wide array of books on social issues and aptitude and attitude building. The air-conditioning in the library provides comfortable environment for prolonged reading sessions. Library attendance is mandatory for students and planned in their academic timetable. Computer Lab

The Institute has latest computers in the with student terminal ratio as 1:1 to work for their practicals that are part of the curriculum. All the legal software is provided to cover the entire syllabi and for any other special needs for the projects. Computer Lab

Auditorium

BCIIT’s state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 250 people is equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment in a centrally air-conditioned environment. The auditorium is used round the year for hosting intra and inter-college events like seminars, conference and debates and cultural activities. It is a most happening place where socio-technical interaction occurs between the students, faculty and experts from industry and academia

Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Information Technology Approval & Affiliation

The three-year MCA program being run at Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Information technology is designed by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University – the affiliating University. The norms and standards for the delivery of the course – as laid down by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, and Government of India – are followed at the Institute. The MCA program is divided into six semesters each of five months duration. Each semester comprises of five theory subjects and three practical subjects – except the sixth semester, when the students work on live project in the industry. In addition to this, every semester has a paper referred as Non University Examination Scheme (NUES) equal to the weightage of one paper, which allows the Institute to expose the students beyond the laid down syllabi and conduct research.

Pedagogy

Teaching-Learning process at BCIIT is implemented by the dedicated faculty through rigorous planning and keeping in view the industry needs. Students undergo classroom lectures, tutorials, case studies, assignments, seminars, workshops, multimedia presentations, and lectures from guest speakers from the industry and academia. In every practical subject, besides writing individual programmes, students carry out projects in teams. In the fourth & fifth semesters students carryout integrated projects combining the multiple skill sets. In sixth semester students carryout live projects in industry. Students at BCIIT are exposed to research on the topics that are outside the syllabi; latest trends in technology are grasped, analysed and presented through seminars by the students. To develop the soft skills of the students, a personality development module is integrated with the syllabi.

Intake & Reservation of Seats

AICTE approved intake for the programme is 60. The reservation policy in vogue for 2006-07 entails admissions on all India basis with 15% reservation for scheduled casts, 7.5% for scheduled tribes, 5% for defence, 3% for physically handicapped and one seat for Kashmere migrants.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the admission to MCA programmes is:

(a) Bachelor’s Degree of a recognised University in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate and must also have passed Mathematics and English at least at the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the CBSE or any other Examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
OR
(b) BCA/BIT/BIS of a recognised University of at least three years duration with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
OR
(c) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or a qualification recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
