The Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR), originally established as Department of pharmacy at Kashmiri Gate Polytechnic in 1964 is one of the departments of Directorate of Training and Technical Education. In 1972, the department was later on shifted to Pusa Institute and then in 1979, to present lush green of 10.5 acres campus at Pushp Vihar, New Delhi. From College of Pharmacy it was upgraded and now emerged as Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR) vide gazette notification of July 2004, under Department of Training and Technical Education, GNCT of Delhi affiliated to University of Delhi. It is also trying to emerge as the first Pharmacy University of India, Delhi Pharmaceutical Science and Research University (DPSR-U) as per the Govt. Legislation enacted on 11th September 2008. DIPSAR has developed as State of Art. It is now a full-fledged Centre of Excellence which is constantly producing top class pharmaceutical scientists, pharmacists there by significantly contributing towards the development and progress of World and India in particular.

This premier Institute has completed yet another year preserving its heritage of high standards in teaching and research in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The primary endeavor of DIPSAR is to:

  • To develop globally competitive pharmacists / Pharmaceutical Scientists
  • Promote scientific research and development DIPSAR: Heading towards Golden Jubilee 19 Annual Report 2012-13 in the field of pharmacy.
  • Catalyze faster lab scale research and development with commercial/ industrial potential.

The students of DIPSAR have the opportunity to work in well-furnished and organized research laboratories equipped with advanced instruments in various potential areas like Genome Research, Pharmacokinetics, Antifertility and Infertility, Ocular Pharmacology, Indian System of Medicine, Radioimmunoassay, Novel Drug Delivery Systems, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Herbal Drug Technology, Cardiovascular Research, etc. Each department possesses its own lab space furnished with highly sophisticated instruments for post graduates and Ph.D. researchers in addition to basic requirements for practical training of undergraduates.

Air-conditioned library enriched with thousands of books, journals and magazines from various disciplines of Pharmacy is accessible. All the dipsarians have Internet facility at their disposal round the clock through two Information Technology Centers equipped with more than 100 computers. Other facilities at DIPSAR campus include an ATM of State Bank of India, Utility shops, Food court, Gymnasium, Recreation blocks, Sports complex, Swimming pool etc. that provide students with all the ingredients of a facilitated youth.

DIPSAR has also planned 8+1 P.G. Block for which Finance Department has accorded the approval and sanctioned Rs. 27 Crores for the building of new infrastructure. Further more one room with attached bathroom is constructed in all the staff quarters and it has also been planned to build a new residential block for the staff at the place of the old guest house.
