Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Physiotherapy About-:

Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Physiotherapy (BCIP) was established in 2003 to run four & half – Year Bachelor of physiotherapy programme (BPT). The Institute is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi; and is approved by the Delhi Council of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (DCPTOT), and awarded A Grade by Department of Higher Education, Government of NCT of Delhi.

The institute has got permission to run two years MPT (Musculoskeletal) Programme with affiliation to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and approved by the Delhi Council of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (DCPTOT).

The Institute is established under the aegis of Shri Banarsidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society, a charitable society working in the field of health and education since 1952.

The faculty and the students – share the vision and mission of the Institute and are active partners in its implementation.
The faculty members always focus towards the development of the students into top class healthcare professionals. The tests which form the part of internal assessment are conducted on regular basis. The students are encouraged to participate in debates, quiz, competition, sports & cultural programmes.

Bachelor Of Physiotherapy (BPT)

The four –and- a- half year BPT program being run at Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Physiotherapy is designed by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University – the affiliating University. The norms and standards for the course – as laid down by the Delhi Council of Physiotherapy & Occupational therapy (DCPTOT), Government of NCT of Delhi are followed at the Institute. The BPT curriculum program is divided into four years, each academic year is of one year duration . Each year comprises of theory & relevant practical subjects. In the fourth year, the students work on a project in the field of Physiotherapy. Besides in every year, there is a paper referred to as Non University Examination Scheme (NUES) equivalent to the weightage of one paper, which allows the Institute to expose the students beyond the laid down syllabi and conduct research & clinical training.

Master Of Physiotherapy (MPT)

The institute has also started Masters of Physiotherapy (MPT) in musculoskelaetal field in year 2009-10, MPT in Sports Physiotherapy, MPT in Neuro Physiotherapy and MPT in Cardio-pulmonary Physiotherapy in year 2010-11, all affiliated from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
Pedagogy Teaching

Learning process at BCIP is implemented by the dedicated faculty through rigorous planning and keeping in view the needs of Physiotherapy curriculum. Students undergo classroom lectures, tutorials, practicals, case studies, assignments, seminars, workshops, multimedia presentations, and lectures from guest speakers & visiting faculty. In practical subjects of 1st & 2nd yr. students practise physiotherapy skills on each other. In third & fourth year, students go for clinical training in various hospitals & O.P.Ds. Fourth year students also carryout research project in Physiotherapy field. Students are encouraged to research on the topics under guidance of teachers in Physiotherapy disciplines.

Intake & Reservation of Seats

Bachelor Of Physiotherapy (BPT)

The approved intake for the programme is 60. The reservation policy in vogue for 2006-07 entails admissions on an all India basis with 15% reservation for scheduled castes, 7.5% for scheduled tribes, 5% for defence, 3% for physically handicapped and one seat for Kashmiri migrants.

Master Of Physiotherapy (MPT)

  • The approved intake for the MPT – Musculoskelaetal Physiotherapy programme is 8.
  • The approved intake for the MPT Sports Physiotherapy programme is 5.
  • The approved intake for the MPT Neuro Physiotherapy programme is 5.
  • The approved intake for the MPT Cardio-Pulmonary Physiotherapy programme is 5.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the admission to BPT programme is :
Pass in 12th class of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately.
A candidate also must have passed in English as a subject in the qualifying examination.
